If you enjoy talking on the telephone with strangers and asking redundant questions, a job as a telemarketer may be perfect for you. Almost anyone can be a telemarketer, but a good telemarketer will be capable of reading a script and staying polite regardless of any situation. Some telemarketers work on a per-hour basis, some work on a commission basis, and others are a combination of both.

Average pay rate: $7 to $13 per hour.

Pros: Steady, reliable career choice with lots of opportunities for potential riches. There is no face-to-face communication, and the pay is decent.

Cons: Telemarketers get a lot of negative feedback from the people called.
