Do you like working under a veil of mystery? If you enjoy working in an environment where you get to shape the future of a company based on your opinions, being a secret shopper may be the perfect job for you. Secret shoppers approach a business as directed by the company’s owner or manager, and pretends to be a normal shopper. Then you complete a detailed report on your experience. Shopping for free!

Average pay rate: $10 to $100 per hour depending on the secret shopper’s reputation, detail orientation, and the company.

Pros: An exciting job where nothing is ever the same. A lot of room for the creative imagination, and the pay is pretty good for the task. Great for stay-at-home parents, students, and retired people.

Cons: Secret shoppers will not find it easy to do this as a full-time, reliable, or stable career choice.
